German Hanau Silver Cream Jug Ludwig Neresheimer
A very pretty 18th century style German silver cream jug, fine quality and good gauge, of baluster form with spiral fluting with bright cut engraving. Embossed decoration of 3 vacant cartouches surrounded by bright cut engraved border with flying swallows, reeds, flowers and foliage. Further engraved detail in rays up the wide flared spout. Ornate cast handle and set on 3 unusual applied cast feet. Hallmarked to the base with the marks for the Hanau manufacturer Ludwig Neresheimer and further marks with London import marks for 1898, lion passant for sterling standard, and importer initials R.G.A.
It measures 9cm (3 1/2") high, 8cm (3 1/8") spout to handle and 6cm (2 3/8") wide. It weighs 106g / 3.4ozt. Condition is excellent with no damage or dents and very light surface wear. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
