Antique Silver Anglo Indian Kutch Sugar Bowl
Arthur Vandyk Antiques are delighted to offer for sale this late 19th or early 20th Century anglo Indian silver twin handled sugar bowl with a vacant shield cartouche. I believe this bowl originated from the Kutch region, an area celebrated for its fine quality silverware. The base is marked with the silversmiths mark (unidentified) and 90 which stands for 900 silver, see photos.
This heavy gauge hand made silver bowl has an exquisite floral repousse decoration which covers the body, this is typical of the fine work found in the Kutch region of India. The bowl has scroll handles and a vacant shield cartouche. The overall shape and style particularly the shield indicates this object was originally made for the British.

Condition Report
In overall excellent condition for its approximate 120 years. The bowl has surface scratches and tarnish marks consistent with age, a slight knock to the the base, plus scratches also to the base where it was previously tested for silver.
