William Bateman
William Bateman I. London Silversmith 1774-1850.
Bateman family of silversmiths. Maker of domestic products such as flatware, tea and coffee pots, salvers and sauceboats which retained classic design features.
He was the son of Jonathan and Ann Bateman who in 1800 entered in partnership with his uncle Peter and his mother Ann (Peter and Ann Bateman). In 1805, after the retirement of Ann, they registered the new mark of 'Peter Bateman and William (I) Bateman'. From 1815 to 1840 'William (I) Bateman' was registered alone.
