Blue and White
Blue and white pottery covers a wide range of white pottery that is decorated under the glaze with a blue pigment usually applied by hand brushing but is also applied by stencilling or by transfer-printing. Blue and white decoration first became widely used in Chinese porcelain in the 14th century though the style goes back to the 9th century in Iraq. Blue and white pottery is still being produced today most of it copying earlier styles.
