John Emes, London Silvermaker.
John Emes silversmith 1798-1802.
John Emes was apprenticed to William Woollett, goldsmith and engraver in 1778 obtaining his freedom in 1796. He went into a partnership with Henry Chawner in 1796. The partnership lasted until 1798. John Emes continued under his own mark until his death in 1808. His wife Rebecca Emes carried on the business.
