Lloyd Loom
Lloyd Loom - Furniture maker.
Lloyd Loom was invented by an American - Marshall B Lloyd in 1917.
It was a process were craft paper is twisted around a metal wire and woven into Lloyd Loom fabric. It had all the benefits of wicker and rattan without any of the drawbacks. Furniture made from Lloyd Loom became very popular in the United States and in 1921 Marshall B. Lloyd sold the British rights to W (William) Lusty & Sons.
Lusty went into production and a few years later their range of products extended to over 400 designs that featured in their catalogue. Lusty ceased production in 1968. Production of Lloyd Loom continued in the United States to the present day. There are a number of manufacturers making Lloyd Loom today both in the UK and abroad.
