Unusual Edwardian Silver 6 Slice Toast Rack antique solid sterling %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Very stylish and unusual, heavy Edwardian silver 6 slice toast rack by James Dixon & Sons. Arc shape bars with a spade shaped handle set of opposing scrolls. The base is a flat sheet with a decorative cut out section with rolling scrolls running around the outside, and either side of the sheet are cut out sections, straight along the base and scalloped along the top. Set on 4 bun feet.

Hallmarked for Sheffield 1902 and further stamped with design numbers 991 and etched H9,706. A nice monogram is engraved at one end of the base and a crest at the other with a stag's head holding a banner reading "Live To Live".

It measures 14cm (5 1/2") long, 9.5cm (3 3/4") wide and 16.5cm (6 1/2") high and weighs a substantial 333g/10.7ozt. Condition is very good with no damage or repairs and light surface wear, good and appropriate for age and use and the hallmarks are nice and clear.
