Pair of Art Deco Silver Napkin Rings, C Allen 1936
This is an attractive pair of Art Deco Sterling Silver Napkin Rings. The rings are oblong with bowed sides and the fronts are decorated with a line and double square design. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The napkin rings are made in Sheffield by Charles James Allen and date to the height of the Art Deco era in 1936. Charles Allen was originally in partnership with Sidney Darwin as Allen & Darwin from around 1892. After Darwin retired in the early 1920s, Charles Allen continued by himself up until the end of the 1930s.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 85 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The napkin rings are each 4.6cm / 1.8ins long, 3.5cm / 1.4ins wide and 2.8cm / 1.1ins high. The pair together weighs in at a very respectable 57.9g / 2oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the end of each ring are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter t for 1936 and the C.J.A in a shield makers' mark for Charles James Allen.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
