6 x Victorian Silver Teaspoons, Walker & Hall 1888

This is a heavyweight, top quality set of 6 Victorian Sterling Silver Teaspoons in the ornate Queen's Pattern. The spoons are single struck, so they have the pattern on the upper side and are smooth on the underside. The initials ES are elegantly engraved within the Queen's pattern decoration at the top of each stem.
The teaspoons are made in Sheffield by world famous silversmiths Walker & Hall and date to 1888. Founded by George Walker in 1845, who was later joined by Henry Hall, the firm became Walker & Hall in 1853. They remained in business until they were merged into British Silverware with Mappin & Webb and Elkington & Co in 1963.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and just the most minimal superficial surface wear. These have clearly been well looked after for over 130 years. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The teaspoons are each 13.6cm / 5.3ins long and the set of six together weighs in at a very substantial 139.3g / 4.9oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the underside of the stems, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter V for 1888, the Queen Victoria duty mark and both the JEB (for John Edward Bingham, head of Walker & Hall from 1873 to 1891) and the famous W & H in a pennant makers' mark for Walker & Hall.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoons.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
