6 x Art Deco Silver Coffee Spoons, Sheffield 1925

This is a good set of six George V Art Deco Sterling Silver Coffee Spoons in the Trefid pattern. Trefid is one of the oldest flatware patterns and dates back to the 1660s. Along with other traditional designs such as seal top and nail top it had a revival of popularity in the Art Deco era. Trefid has a distinctive three pointed end to the stem and a long \"rat tail\" down the back of the bowl.
This set of 6 coffee spoons was made in Sheffield in 1925 by the highly regarded silversmiths Lee & Wigfull. George Lee & Henry Wigfull had a short lived partnership in the 1860s. In 1870 Henry Wigfull took full control of the firm but retained the name Lee & Wigfull. They remained in business up until the early 1960s.
Condition is very good with just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 95 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The spoons are each 9.6cm / 3.8ins long and the set of 6 together weigh in at a respectable 44.7g / 1.57oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the undersides of the stems are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the crown assay mark for Sheffield, the date letter h for 1925 and the H.W makers\' mark for Henry Wigfull of Lee & Wigfull.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
