2 x George V Silver Candlesticks, Asprey, 1911

Here we have a handsome Pair of George V Sterling Silver Pillar Candlesticks. The candlesticks have octagonal bases, weighted for stability, with line and drop decoration. From these rise square pillar stems with vertical line decoration topped by outward tapering sconces with removable line decorated nozzles.
The candlesticks were made in London by the world famous Asprey & Co and date to 1911. The firm was founded by William Asprey in Mitcham, Surrey in 1781. Under William’s son Charles the company moved to Bond Street in central London, where they still reside today. They quickly established a name for high quality, luxury goods, particularly antique jewellery, silverware, watches, leather goods and luggage. They remain one of the most respected luxury brands in the world.
Condition is very good with just a few truly tiny dings around the bases plus the superficial surface wear that has to be anticipated after over 110 years of good service. They will look magnificent on any dining table today or to give ambient candlelight to a room. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each candlestick is 18.5cm / 7.3ins high and stands on a 9cm / 3.5ins square base. The two together weigh in at a hefty 904g / 31.9oz but this does of course include the weighting material in the bases.
The hallmarks, on the sides of the bases, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the date letter q for 1911 and the A & Co Ltd makers' mark for Asprey & Co Ltd. The opposite sides of the bases have the retail stamp ASPREY, LONDON.
Shipping in the UK is £17.00 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which covers the weight and the value of the candlesticks.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
