Vintage Silver Bottle Coaster, Broadway & Co, 1995
This is a well made Vintage Sterling Silver Bottle Coaster with a Turned Wood base. The silver gallery has diamond piercing all the way round with beaded rims to top and bottom in the Georgian style. There is a central silver button in the middle of the wooden base. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The bottle coaster was made in Birmingham by Broadway & Co and dates to 1995. Broadway & Co was founded by William Benjamin Broadway in Birmingham in 1901. The firm quickly established a reputation for good quality workmanship and produced a wide range of silverware for personal and domestic use. The company, now called Broadway Silversmiths, remains under the control of the Broadway family to this day and still uses many of the original dies and tools from the early years of the company.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, no damage to the wooden base and just the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The bottle coaster is 12.5cm / 4.9ins in diameter, comfortably large enough for any normal still or sparkling wine bottle, and stands 4.4cm / 1.7ins high. It weighs in at 147.1g / 5.2oz.
The hallmarks, on the bottom rim and on the central button, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter V for 1995 and the B & Co makers' mark for Broadway & Co.
Shipping in the UK is £11 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the bottle coaster.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
