Victorian Silver Jam Spoon, Haseler Bros, 1896

This is a good quality Victorian Sterling Silver Jam Spoon with a feathered stem. It is made by the Haseler Brothers in Birmingham and dates to 1896. The Haseler Brothers (Edward John Haseler & Noble Haseler) set up their silversmiths at premises in Branston Street, Birmingham in the late 1880s and remained in business until the start of the First World War. They produced a small range of personal items, tableware and flatware.
This attractive jam spoon has a pointed stem with a feathered edge along its length. The bowl has a slightly scalloped shape. Condition is good with no dings or dents and only superficial surface wear. Nothing you wouldn't expect after over 120 years of use. This Victorian jam spoon is perfectly suitable for use today, makes a lovely decorative piece or would be a good addition to any collection. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The spoon is 12.3cm long and weighs 16.8g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the reverse of the stem, are well struck and clear to read, although the makers' mark is a little rubbed. They are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the gothic date letter "w" for 1896 and the EJH over NH in a shield makers' mark for Edward John Haseler & Noble Haseler, the Haseler Brothers.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
