Silver Charles Horner Napkin Rings Chester 1922

Arthur Vandyk Antiques are delighted to present for sale these plain and stylish banded pair of Antique sterling silver George VI period napkin rings by the renowned Charles Horner factory in 1922.
These napkin rings would look beautiful on display: the perfect accessory that really creates sophistication, elegance and class to your dining table. Alternatively, these napkin rings would make a delightful Christmas, housewarming, birthday, or anniversary gift for a loved one.
History of Charles Horner and sons
Charles Horner (1837-1896) established his antique jewellery business around 1860 under the name 'Charles Horner of Halifax' and sold hatpins, thimbles and brooches, as well as Art Nouveau pendants and necklaces. After his death, Charles Horner's sons James Dobson Horner and Charles Henry Horner took over this business with William Leach. The next generation added antique clocks and silver tableware to their inventory of pieces, the business eventually closed in 1984. These lovely napkin rings descend from when the sons managed to business and still have the style and sophistication evident in their father's work.
Details are as follows:
Silversmith: Charles Horner
Assay Office: Chester
Year of manufacture: 1922
Dimensions
Diameter: 4cm
Height: 2.5cm
Combined weight: 15 grams
Condition report:
These napkin rings are quite delicate and thin, but still are a quality pieces of silver tableware.
In good overall condition for their 100 year age. One of the napkin rings has been quite heavily knocked and has some shallow indents to the surface as well as being slightly misshapen. The second napkin ring is in good condition with no signs of damage and just surface scratches and tarnish marks consistent with age. Despite their flaws, these napkin rings are a presentable and beautiful example of early twentieth century Charles Horner silver tableware.
