Pretty Pair Victorian Pierced Neoclassical Salts antique solid sterling %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
A very pretty pair of Victorian silver table salts of serpentine shape stood on ball and claw feet. Ribbed rims, pierced decoration to the walls reserving a small vacant cartouche on one side, and multiple bright cut engraved bands running above and below the pierced frieze. Both hallmarked for Chester 1900, makers George Nathan & Ridley Hayes.

They measure 8.6cm (3 3/8") wide by 6.5cm (2 1/2") deep and 5.3cm (2 1/") high. The total weight is 295g, silver weight 106g / 3.4ozt.

Condition is good. One has a small loss to the pierced decoration and a short repaired section. The liner has a tiny chip to the outside edge which cannot be seen when in place. No other damage or other issues. One of the liners must be a match as one has a star cut in to the base which the other lacks but otherwise they appear identical and fit perfectly.
