Pair of Silver Candlesticks, Broadway & Co, 1977
This is a very nice pair of Elizabeth II Sterling Silver Candlesticks in traditional style from the Queen's Silver Jubilee year. The candlesticks have a stepped base and baluster stem with turned line decoration. They have weighted bases for stability.
The maker of the pair of candlesticks is Broadway & Co of Birmingham and they are dated for 1977. The firm was established by William Broadway at the end of the Victorian age in 1901 and remains a Broadway family run business today, one of the few silversmiths still manufacturing and hand crafting in Birmingham.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only very superficial surface wear. They have clearly been well looked after. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The candlesticks stand 13.5cm / 5.4" high and are 7.3cm / 2.9" in diameter across the base. They weigh in at 395g / 13.9oz but this does include the weighting material in the base.
The hallmarks on the bases are clear to easy to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "C" for 1977, the Queen's head mark for the Silver Jubilee and the B&Co makers mark for Broadway & Co. They are also stamped FILLED to show that the bases are weighted with other material for stability.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery Parcel Post, which includes cover for the value of the candlesticks.
Overseas customers please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
