A superb Margaret Gilmour Glasgow style Arts & Crafts hand hammered brass fireside log or coal box with whiplash plant form tendril decoration and rivet construction strapwork borders.

An extremely stylish and architectural fireside box which encapsulates the essence of pure Glasgow Arts and Crafts design and is well made and of heavy and sturdy quality.

Considered as one of the “Glasgow Girls”, Margaret Gilmour attended the School of Art from 1877 until 1880. The Gilmour Studio was set up with her 2 sisters at 179 West George St. Glasgow.

Size: 62cm width x 63cm height x 36cm depth.

Date: c. 1900.

Condition:  In excellent original condition retaining its original robust and heavy liner, the hinges operate perfectly.
