Mappin & Webb Sterling Silver Vesta Case 1909
Mappin & Webb is a luxury British jeweller / retailer which has a renowned tradition for producing superior quality luxury items for the discerning. Mappin & Webb holds a Royal Warrant as Jewellers, Goldsmiths and Silversmiths to Her Majesty The Queen and as Silversmiths to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.
As you would expect this is a high quality item in excellent condition. This fully hallmarked Edwardian silver vesta case is so exquisite that it is suitable as a part of a collection of tobacciana or as an item of antique jewellery / jewelry. It has become fashionable to wear the most eye-catching vesta cases on belcher / double chains as pendants. The case still has the original hanging ring, as it would have been worn on an Albert chain. This delightful antique is certainly charming and beautiful enough to be worn as antique jewellery. The case is superbly made. Each side has a bold engine turned linear design. This design is further enhanced by finely executed fleur-de-lis. All clasps and hinges work perfectly. This case was assayed at Birmingham in 1909.
This item measures 5.5 cm x 5.5 cm and weighs 41.5 grams.
