Late Victorian Silver Thimble Holder and Thimble
The holder is hallmarked Birmingham 1900.
Maker's mark for Lawrence Emmanuel, Warstone Parade, Birmingham.
The hallmark is quite rubbed but just about legible.
The holder is modelled as a bucket. The remains of a design can be seen in some of the hammered effects. The inside is lined so that the thimble does not rattle.
The thimble is hallmarked London 1894.
Its maker's mark begins with S but the rest too rubbed to read.
There is a short split approximately 2mm long at the rim of the thimble, please see photos.
Approximate dimensions: holder: height not including handle 2.5cm, weight 9.7 grams: Thimble height 2.3cm, weight 2.8 grams: total weight 12.5 grams.
In lovely condition and an ideal addition for your chatelaine or your chatelaine attachments collection.
