Georgian Scottish Ayshire Military Silver Salts
Attractive pair of George III silver navette shape pedestal table salts with reeded foot and rim, still with the original gilt wash inside. Hallmarked to the base with Edinburgh thistle mark, George III head and makers mark for John McDonald. There is no date mark but the combination of maker and other marks dates them to between c.1797-c.1806. They each bear an engraved royal crest to the side, circular with a thistle inside and a crown on top and "Ayrshire Military" around the outside of the ring.
They measure 6.5 (2 5/8") high, 10cm (4") long and 6cm (2 3/8") wide. They weigh 145g / 4.7ozt.
