Edwardian Silver Brighton Souvenir Spoon, 1907
This is a fine quality Edwardian Sterling Silver Souvenir Spoon of Brighton. The finial of the spoon is formed of the Brighton coat of arms. This sits above an image of the famous Royal Pavilion with the word Brighton vertically down the stem. There is an image of the North Gate of the Royal Pavilion where the stem joins the bowl.
The spoon is made in Birmingham by renowned silversmiths Levi & Salaman and dates to 1907. Phineas Levi & Joseph Salaman founded their company in the 1880s and were in business into the 1920s. They produced a wide range of silver items of consistently high quality.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents and only the most minimal amount of surface wear. This has clearly been kept as a treasured souvenir and well looked after. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The spoon is 10cm / 3.9ins long and weighs 8.7g / 0.3oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the underside of the stem, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter h for 1907 and the L & S makers' mark for Levi & Salaman.
