2 x George V Silver Mustard Spoons, London, 1925

This is a fine quality pair of George V Sterling Silver Mustard Spoons in the classic Old English pattern. The bowl of one spoon has some rubbed gilding in it whilst the other doesn't appear to have ever been gilded. Both spoons have a crest of a lion and shield at the top of the stem.
The mustard spoons are made in London by the famous Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company and date to 1925. The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company was founded in 1880 by William Gibson and John Langman and took premises at 112 Regent Street, London, W1. They quickly established themselves as high quality silversmiths, goldsmiths and jewellers selling both their own products manufactured in London and Sheffield and pieces supplied by other reputable manufacturers. In 1952 they were merged into the fellow Regent Street firm of Garrard & Co.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents but, as mentioned above, some rubbing to the gilding in one bowl plus the superficial surface wear that you would expect after the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
As you would expect from The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Co, these are well made spoons in a good gauge of silver. Each spoon is 10cm / 3.9ins long and the pair together weigh in at a very respectable 27.7g / 0.98oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the undersides of the stems are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the Gothic date letter k for 1925 and the G & S Co Ltd makers' mark for The Goldsmiths & Silversmiths Company Ltd.
