Boxed Sterling Silver "Irene" Bouillon Spoon, ISC
Here we have a very attractive boxed US Sterling Silver Bouillon Spoon in the "Irene" pattern. The spoon was made by famous American silversmiths the International Silver Co and dates to the first half of the 20th century. The International Silver Company (ISC) was founded in Meriden, Connecticut in 1898 and continued producing silver flatware and tableware until 1983.
This bouillon spoon is in the "Irene" pattern, which was first introduced in 1902. It is double struck with the pattern on both sides of the stem. The "Irene" pattern continued to be produced up until about 1950 so it is hard to say exactly when this spoon dates to but it is most probably from the interwar years.
Condition is extremely good and it seems likely that this was a gift, probably at a christening and remained unused and was always kept in its box. The box is also in very good condition. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The spoon is 13.1cm / 5.1" long and weighs a respectable 21.7g / 0.76oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The underside of the stem, just above the bowl, is marked STERLING and has the Native American head that ISC inherited as a trademark from Wilcox & Evertsen, one of the companies that originally joined together to form the ISC.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
