Art Nouveau Silver Salt Spoon, Birmingham, 1907
This is a fine quality Edwardian Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Salt Spoon in an unusual Leaf & Twist pattern. The spoon was made in Birmingham by the well-know firm of silversmiths S.Blanckensee & Sons Ltd and dates to 1907. The rare design has a three leaf engraved finial at the top of a barley twist stem with a classic round bowl and reflects the Art Nouveau styling of the period. There is no personalisation of any kind making this ideal for moving on to a new home. The hallmarks across the reverse of the bowl are well struck and clear to read with the exception of the makers' mark, which is somewhat rubbed but still identifiable.
The Salt Spoon is in very good overall condition with no dings or dents, no salt corrosion and only minimal wear and tear. It has clearly been well looked after for the last 112 years. It is perfect for modern use or would make a good addition to any collection. Please make sure to view all the photos.
The spoon is 7cm long and weighs in at 4.0g.
The hallmarks are the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "h" for 1907 and the rather rubbed SB&S Ld makers' mark for S.Blanckensee & Sons Ltd.
Shipping in the UK is £4 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For.
