This is an antique fireplace grate. An English, cast iron fire basket with a pair of Celtic cross andirons, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Pleasingly presented fireplace with appealing Celtic icons
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Quality cast iron basket presented in a good, consistent graphite finish
Suitable for all fuel types, including logs and coal
Generously sized basket of demi-lune form and of substantial weight
Fire dogs present well with a Celtic cross surmount over shaped front legs
Detailed throughout with a charming hand-beaten pattern
Slender rest to the rear with barley twist detail, terminating in a square section rear leg
