4 x George IV Large Silver Teaspoons, Exeter, 1825

Here we have a fine quality set of four George IV Sterling Silver Large Teaspoons in the classic Fiddle pattern. The spoons have no initials or crests of any kind any on them.
The four spoons were made by William Woodman of Bristol and assayed in Exeter in 1825. William Woodman was a specialist spoon maker who was active from around 1815 up to around 1840. He was based in Bristol but because the city didn't have an assay office of its own his work was sent to the city of Exeter, which was the principal assay office for all of South West England's silversmiths.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents, no wear to the tips of the spoons and only the bare minimum of superficial surface wear that has to be expected in teaspoons that are nearly 200 years old. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each spoon is 14.7cm / 5.8ins long and the set of four together weigh in at a substantial 86.8g / 3oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the undersides of the stems are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the three towered wall assay mark for Exeter, the date letter II for 1825, the George IV duty mark and the distinctive W W makers' mark for William Woodman of Bristol.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the spoons.
