A sterling silver & niello powder compact made in the 1940s. This would make an ideal 25th anniversary gift. In person the lid has a beautiful and lustrous sheen not captured by the photographs. An intricately engraved image of Mekkalah, Goddess of Lightning, is depicted on the lid. Mekkalah is shown with lightning bolts coming from her right hand. Image three is a close up of the engraved silver. Image two is a dull over head shot so that the lid does not reflect any light and the image clarity will be greater. This compact mirror is in such good condition that it may not have been used. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror gives a good reflection. The compact is engraved ' STERLING BANGKOK'. It is suitable for all loose face powder or as a handbag mirror. Includes sifter (gauze). Measures 2 1/2" and weighs 66.3 grams.
