Truly delightful little 19th.c. vernacular Welsh dressmaker’s bobbin or spool holder c.1850. Exuberantly turned top rail (shaped like two reels of thread) and supports, with three removable lugs with long metal pins attached to hold spools of thread, further turned finials and a little drawer in the base. Of various timbers with rosewood veneered drawer front and diamond shaped inlays. To give it extra weight and stability the base is a solid block of ash with the drawer space hollowed out, resting on small turned bun feet.
