A unusual cased set of servers, carved from horn and and mounted with silver. The use of horn and silver in this way is typically Scottish and the fact the silver is unmarked means that they are probably provincial Scottish brought in by the London retailers of Burlton and Elliott when there was the period of great Victorian interest in all things Scottish. The servers are lovely quality and have a good colour to the horn, the box is the original with a beautiful interior and a leather exterior which is a lovely colour but slightly worn. C.1870.
