Sterling Silver Vesta Case Gifts For Violinists solid silver vestas cases gifts for violinists violins %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Art Nouveau silver vesta case gifts for violinists. A rare & very beautiful fully hallmarked sterling silver vesta case in excellent condition. The front shows an elegant lady playing the violin, seated on a cloud. Her hair, features, robes & the cherubs are well executed & this is a charming antique. Made in France at the end of the nineteeth century / beginning of the twenty first century. The front also has in relief two love birds & cherubs reading from a musical score. The case is signed 'A L'. Just as much attention has been paid to the adornment of the back. Here we see a blank oval cartouche surrounded by flowers & foliage. On the clouds above three cherubims playing musical instruments. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. Image six is the maker's mark, the first letter looks like a U & then this is followed by a trident, as yet we have not discovered which silversmith made this piece. Measures 4.5 cm x 3.5 cm & weighs 23.4 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
