rthur Vandyk Antiques are delighted to offer for sale this fine quality hand made pair of early 19th century Georgian, hallmarked silver Old English bead pattern silver sugar tongs with an engraved swirl design to the bowls.
This handsome pair of antique hand made silver sugar tongs are free of any personalisation and are made of good gauge silver.
An elegant and highly usable item of George III period silver tableware ideal for use with either sugar or ice cubes.
The details are:
Silversmith: Thomas Wallis II
Assay office: Lacks assay mark, but the silversmith is registered for London assay office.
Year of manufacture: part marked and lacking assay office mark but has London date letter for 1802, the silversmith was active from 1778 until 1809.
Monarch: George III
Dimensions:
Length: 14 cm
Weight: 37 Grams
Condition report:
In very good condition for age of 219 years, with some age related scratches and surface marks plus odd tiny deeper scratch, the bowls are nice and crisp as are the hallmarks.
This is a fine piece of silver that will be an asset to your silver collection, great for entertaining indoors and outdoors or would be the perfect gift for a loved one.
