This is an Edwardian Sterling Silver Chunky Vesta Case, not designed to hang on an Albert but either sit on a table or be carried in a pocket. It is hand engraved with a foliate scroll pattern and the shield shaped cartouche is engraved “R.R. to R.W.” There are still signs of a gilded interior.
The hinge and spring fitting are on the back rather than the side of the vesta. Strike plate is on the base.
Hallmarked Chester 1902, with makers mark for William Neale.

Depth…………..just under ¾ inch or 16mm.
