Rare George I Silver Pounce Pot London 1727

A charming early Georgian silver pounce pot of baluster shape with reeded detail to the body, foot and rim. The push on domed cover has a stepped edge and button finial with pretty hand pierced holes of flower shapes, curves and droplets. The original owner's initials PD are engraved to the belly. Hallmarked to the base for London 1727, maker James Goodwin, the cover is unmarked as usual.
It measures 9.5cm (3 3/4") high and 4.5cm (1 3/4") wide and weighs 64g / 2.1ozt.
In excellent condition with no dents, holes or repairs. The cover has two very minor faults with splits between a couple of the piercings due to the proximity of their placing, leaving what would have been the finest slithers of metal that couldn't really have hoped to survive intact. There is a tiny loss similarly to one of the flower arrangements. Handling wear is minor and there is a small scratch to the side of the pot. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost. For US customers, current tariff charges of 10% must be paid in advance of posting. Please contact us to go through the details.
We wish to ensure all our customers are happy with their purchases and offer a full no quibble return policy for all items returned within 14 days. We ask that returns are notified within 7 days where possible. Return postage is the buyer's responsibility in terms of cost and safeguarding the item through transit.
