Pair Georgian Sterling Silver Wine Bottle Coasters

A superb pair of fine George III silver bottle coasters with plain polished walls and flared gadrooned rims. Fitted with nicely turned wood bases, inset with silver roundels. Very finely engraved impaled coat of arms to one side with the shield split in two, denoting a lady having placed her family coat to the right side of her husband's following marriage. The main left side coat of arms is that of the Eyre family, (argent, on a chevron gules, three cinqefoils proper), and beneath runs the Eyre family motto "Solo Virtus Invicta". The right side shows six crosses crosslet fitchée and what appears to be a ladder or some steps. On the opposite sides of the coasters, and also to the central silver bosses are engraved the Eyre family crest of a leg in proper armour.
Hallmarked for London 1814, maker's initials EB.
They measure 13.5cm (5 3/8") wide (able to hold bottles up to 12cm (4 3/4") wide) and 4.5cm (1 3/4") high. They weigh 500g.
Condition is excellent with no damage or repairs and minor handling wear including some usual minor bruising around the raised band just above the lower rims. The hallmarks are slightly obscured as is often the case by their being placed right on the edge on the lower rims, but they are legible. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque. If you prefer to pay by Stripe please go to our website where we offer that option and additionally options to "Pay in 30 days" and to pay in 3 instalments, all securely supported.
Price includes UK shipping. Worldwide shipping is also available, please ask for a cost. For US customers, current tariff charges of 10% must be paid in advance of posting. Please contact us to go through the details.
