Mid-Century Silver Bud Vase, Turner & Simpson 1970
Here we have an attractive Mid-Century Sterling Silver Bud Vase. The bud vase is trumpet shaped with a domed circular base which is weighted for stability and backed with green baize to help prevent scratching.
The vase is the perfect size for a single flower and would make a charming addition to any dining tray or individual place setting or look lovely on a desk or dressing table.
The bud vase was made in Birmingham by silversmiths Turner & Simpson and dates to 1970. Established in 1912, Turner & Simpson produced a wide range of silverware from flatware and fobs to smoking accessories and trophies. They were a very successful company and remained in business up until around 1980.
Condition is extremely good, with no dings or dents and only the most minimal superficial surface wear that you would expect with use and the passage of time. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The bud vase stands 7.6cm / 3ins high and is 3.8cm / 1.5ins in diameter. It weighs in at 40.3g / 1.4oz but this does of course include the weighting material in the base.
The hallmarks, on the upper side of the base, are a little rubbed but still clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter V for 1970 and the T & S makers' mark for Turner & Simpson.
Shipping in the UK is £6.50 by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed For Parcel Post.
