This is a nice quality large Chinese cloisonné ginger jar of globular form, late Qing c.1900. It is beautifully decorated with trailing plants bearing green leaves and flowers of different colours which contrast with the white background. A green band of two rows of semicircles forms the border at the base of the jar and lid.

Dimensions: Height 26 cm, Diameter 20 cm
Weight 1.3 kg

Condition: Overall, the condition is good but there is a little bit of damage on the lid (see close-up photograph) and one tiny loss of enamel on the base. Neither of these is obvious and the jar displays very well and, because of its relatively large size, makes quite a statement. The word 'CIHNA' is painted on the base which is, clearly, a misspelling of China.
