A beautiful hallmarked sterling silver Kigu handbag mirror in excellent condition, which was assayed in London in 1953. The lid and base have complex engraved designs which gleam as the light catches them. The mirror is good and gives a clear reflection - one small age mark. The inner lid is engraved with the Kigu triangular trademark and hallmarked lion passant. The compact is hallmarked 'KLD' (Kigu Ltd.), date year 'S' (1953), lion passant (sterling silver), leopard's head (London Assay). All hinges and clasps work perfectly. This compact was lacquered during manufacturing and this ensures that it will not need to be cleaned and that it will retain its attractive appearance. A black velvet pouch is included with this piece. Measures 3" and weighs 84.8 grams. Free lavishly illustrated history of this piece included.
