Georgian Silver Hester Bateman Madeira Wine Label


A fine late 18th century curved silver crescent shaped decanter label with a faceted and bright cut engraved edging with an acanthus leaf at either end. Surmounted by the Prince Of Wales' feathers with pierced and engraved detail. Engraved for MADEIRA.
Hallmarks to the reverse, the lion passant, King's head and maker initials for Hester Bateman of the period c.1786-1790. It also has a stylised "P" engraved likely linked to the original owner.
It measures 4.8cm (1 7/8") wide by 2.5cm (1") high weighs 8g / 0.3ozt.
In superb condition with no damage or repair and minimal handling wear. We are now taking a few days off for Christmas, back on the 5th of January. Wishing all our customers a very Happy Christmas!!
