George V Silver Cream Jug, Marson & Jones, 1930

This is a very stylish, high quality George V Sterling Silver Cream Jug from the 1930s. The jug has a stepped pedestal base with a milled edge around the base and the upper rim and an acanthus decorated c-handle. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind.
The creamer is a very well made piece in a good gauge of silver. It is made by Marson & Jones in Birmingham and dates to 1930. Marson & Jones registered their makers' mark during World War One in 1915. They were a comparatively small company producing a variety of good quality tableware pieces. The ceased trading around the start of the Second World War.
Condition is very good with just a couple of truly miniscule dings to the body plus the usual superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 90 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The cream jug is 8.6cm / 3.4ins in diameter across the top, 13.5cm / 5.3ins from lip to handle and stands 6.4cm / 2.6ins high to the top of the handle. It weighs a substantial 102.1g / 3.6oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks on the side of the body are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter F for 1930 and the M&J makers' mark for Marson & Jones.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the cream jug.
Overseas customers please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
