George V Large Silver Vase, Deakin & Francis, 1916
This is a top quality large George V Sterling Silver Vase. It is in classical form with a round stepped base, a smooth cylindrical body and a broad scalloped rim.
The vase is made by high end silversmiths Deakin & Francis in Birmingham and dates to 1916. Founded way back in 1786, the firm is still in business today and still under the ownership of the Deakin family. Although now primarily antique jewellery makers, Deakin & Francis were for many years suppliers of silverware to the principal department stores in London and around the old British Empire.
Condition of the vase is very good with just the minor wear that you would expect of an item that has given over 100 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
This is a vase of substantial size standing 20.3cm / 8ins high and being 11.6cm / 4.5ins in diameter across the top rim. It weighs in at a very substantial 198g / 7oz of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the upper part of the body, are well struck and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter r for 1916 and the D & F in conjoined circles makers' mark for Deakin & Francis. In addition there is a registered design number of 535670, which dates the original design to 1909.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the vase.
Overseas customers, please ask us about shipping costs to your country before making a purchase.
