George V Large Silver Hot Water Jug / Coffee Pot
An attractive antique silver hot water jug with plain polished body on a raised collet foot. Egg and dart detail to the rim and melon fluted dome to the hinged cover mounted with a similarly carved ebonised knop. Stylish carved wood handle with feature detail of concentric circles carved to the sides of the thumb rest and this design echoed in the silver terminals. Hallmarked for Sheffield 1913, makers Joseph Rodgers & Sons.
A good size it would make a very nice coffee pot holding 1 litre / 1 3/4 pints (it is marked to say 3 Gill underneath). 18.5cm (7 1/4") high, 19cm (7 1/2") spout to handle and 10cm (4") wide. It weighs 548g / 17.6ozt.
Condition is very good: just a few very minor dints and no repairs. The handle is sound as is the hinge and knop. Minor handling wear.
