George V Cut Glass Vanity Pot, W.J. Myatt, 1921 George V Twenties Cut Glass %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
Here we have an attractive George V Cut Glass Dressing Table Pot with a Sterling Silver lid. The pot is sarcophagus shaped with all around diamond cut decoration with star cut decoration on the underside of the base. The silver lid has a planished or hammered finish with a gilt interior. The cartouche in the centre is blank making this ideal as a gift.

The dressing table pot is made by W.J. Myatt & Co in Birmingham and dates to 1921. Founded around 1900 and based in Birmingham's famous Jewellery Quarter, W.J. Myatt specialised in small silver items primarily for personal use such as dressing table sets, pin cushions, shoe horns, button hooks, ring trees and desk calendars.

Condition is very good with no chips or cracks in the glass and just a small ding at one end of the silver lid. The gilding on the inside of the lid is in fine condition. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The dressing table pot is 9.5cm / 3.7ins long, 4.3cm / 1.7ins wide and 2.8cm / 1.1ins high. The silver lid weighs 9.3g / 0.32oz of solid Sterling Silver and the lid and glass pot together weigh in at 116.3g / 4.1oz.

The hallmarks on the upper side of the lid are clear and east ro read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter w for 1921 and the WJM & Co in a shield makers' mark for W.J. Myatt & Co.
