This is a very stylish George V Cut Glass Dressing Table Pot with a hallmarked Sterling Silver lid. The cut glass pot is rectangular with sides sloping up to the rim. It has all over hobnail cut sides and a star cut base.

The Sterling Silver lid has a blank central cartouche surrounded by c-scrolls and flowers. It fits snugly onto the top of the cut glass pot.

The silver lid is made in Birmingham by W.J. Myatt & Co, a very good maker of high quality pieces. It dates to the start of the reign of George V in 1911 and remains very much Edwardian in style.

Condition of the cut glass pot is very good with no chips or cracks. The Sterling Silver lid is also in generally good condition with just a couple of tiny dings that would've occurred just in normal day to day to use. Overall it's in good shape for pot that has seen 110 years of service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The pot is 9.5cm / 3.75" long, 4.4cm / 1.75" wide and 3cm / 1.1" high. The silver lid weighs 9.6g / 0.34oz and the whole pot with lid weighs 144.8g / 5.1oz.

The hallmarks, just below the cartouche on the lid, are clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the anchor assay mark for Birmingham, the date letter "m" for 1911 and the WJM & Co makers' mark for W.J. Myatt & Co.
