French 950 Silver Cream Jug, Paris, c.1920s
This is a very elegant, top quality, French 950 Silver Cream Jug with a Rosewood handle. The jug was made in Paris by Lapparra & Gabriel and most probably dates to the early 1920s. Lapparra & Gabriel were a partnership based in Paris who were in business between 1902 and 1923 at premises in the Rue de Temple.
The cream jug has stylistic elements from both Art Nouveau and Art Deco which is characteristic of the transition period between the styles in the years immediately following World War One. It would look gorgeous in any table setting, be it period or modern.
Condition is extremely good with no dings, dents or splits and only the most superficial surface wear. The rosewood handle is also in great condition with no splits or dents. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The cream jug stands 7cm / 2.75" high to the top of the handle and is 9cm / 3.5" from lip to handle. The jug weighs 87.9g / 3.1oz in total including the rosewood handle.
The marks on the base of the jug show the Minerva 1 mark for 950 / 1000 grade silver and the makers' mark, somewhat rubbed, of the L, G and a rat for Lapparra & Gabriel.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery which includes cover for the value of the item.
