Simply stunning and a delight for me to own for a short while. An Arts and Crafts silver salt by Elkington and Company and Hallmarked for Glasgow 1907. The workmanship is top quality, with the leg supports looking almost organic. The planishing throughout the piece is uniform in size yet random in placing, again making it look very organic.

You an imagine this salt being designed by someone at the Glasgow School of Art and being made by Elkington and Co. It has a look of Liberty about it but is not marked so.

It has a crest to the front which I have shown in the photographs. Unfortunately my knowledge does not stretch to crests, so perhaps someone can tell me what it is.

The salt stands 53mm or just over 2 inches.
