Austrian bronze study of an Arab by Bergman
This larger scale fine cold painted bronze study is by the Austrian sculptor Franz Xavier Bergman.
It is in the Orientalist style and depicts a male Arab kneeling on a elaborate prayer rug with his arms and hands raised. He has removed his shoes which sit next to him alongside his walking stick.
He is traditionally dressed in brightly coloured robes and a chequered turban.
This fine bronze by Franz Xavier Bergman is in remarkable condition and has obviously had a cherished life.
It retains very good colour and detail with only the lightest amount of ware to its surfaces.
This fine example is signed on the underside with the Bergman mark a B in a twin handled vase.
Austrian, circa 1900
Height 13cm x width 13cm x depth 15cm
