Art Nouveau Silver Sugar Tongs, USA, c.1904-1914 American Sterling Sugar Tongs %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
This is a very decorative pair of American Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Bird Claw Sugar Tongs from the early years of the 20th century. The arms of the tongs have a pattern of roses and lines that is classically Art Nouveau and even the bird claw ends unusually have a leaf design on top of the traditional scales.

The sugar tongs are made by the Manchester Manufacturing Co of Providence, Rhode Island, USA and date to the period 1904 to 1914.

Condition is good with just a very slight kink in one of the arms but no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that would expect after over 100 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.

The tongs are 9cm / 3.6ins long and weigh 14g / 0.49oz.

The inside of one of the bird claws has the M in a shield plus two birds mark of the Manchester Manufacturing Co in the period 1904-1914 and are stamped Sterling.
