Art Deco Powder Bowl w/ Silver Lid, H Perkins 1926
Here we have a beautiful Art Deco Cut Glass Powder Bowl with a Sterling Silver lid from the 1920s. The glass bowl is a broad low circle with a star cut base. This is mounted with an engine turned silver rim. The lid is engine turned silver with an inset mirror on the underside.
The powder bowl is made in London by Henry Perkins & Sons and dates to 1926. Founded around 1900, the firm was based in London's Tottenham Court Road and specialised in silver mounted glass for ladies and smoking related items for gentlemen. They ceased trading in the early 1930s.
Condition is good, with no chips or cracks in the glass and just a small shallow dent in the silver rim and above it in the silver of the lid. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The bowl is 11cm / 4.3ins in diameter and stands 6.4cm / 2.5ins high to the top of the handle. It weighs in at 288.2g / 10.1oz.
The hallmarks on both the rim and the lid are a little rubbed from many years of polishing but can still be read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the leopard's head assay mark for London, the Gothic date letter l for 1926 and the H P & S makers' mark for Henry Perkins & Sons.
Shipping in the UK is £10 by Royal Mail Special Delivery, which includes cover for the value of the item.
