Art Deco / Art Moderne, Silver Cigarette Box
Art Deco/Art Moderne, silver, engine-turned cigarette-box on stepped feet with vacant, stepped-form cartouche - cedar-lined interior with textured leather underside – Birmingham 1950, Harman Bros - 11x9x3.5cm.
Although post-war, this lovely cigarette box has high Art Deco styling in its stepped feet and the geometrics of the cartouche. It has good hallmarks for Birmingham 1950, Harman Brothers. Would make a lovely dressing-table box or desk tidy.
The overall condition is good, with no splits, tears or material deformations, but there are visible small indentations to the top and cartouche (possily from a worn or removed monogram) and surface scratching consistent with age and use. There is some discolouration to the cedar lining and a small loss to the leather of the underside of the lining. See photos.
I trade in small silver, jewellery and objets d'art. I sell primarily at antiques fairs and in cabinets in Christique Antique Centre in Dorking. I try to find unusual and interesting stock and like to keep turning it over, so I can buy more. Postage and packing are free within the UK - unless explicitly stated otherwise.
