A delightful hallmarked sterling silver continental powder compact made in the 1920s & imported into London in 1927 by H C Freeman. The lid is exquisite & shows small sail boats at sea in the moon light - very beautiful & finely detailed - there isn't any enamel loss on the lid but there are some surface scratches. The sides are decorated with guilloche enamel & there is some wear (see image five) hence the very low listed price of this antique silver compact. All clasps & hinges work perfectly. The mirror is excellent & gives a very good reflection. The base has a delightful guilloche design - a tiny stylized flower & a clam-shell like pattern.
This sterling silver compact measures 5 cm & weighs 59 grams.
